Welcome to my blog, I am Martyn Linton.
I am a training and utility consultant who operates from Hertfordshire in the UK. I help people and businesses to learn new skills and to get the bets utility deals so that they can save money.
I grew up in the West Midlands and came from a disadvantaged background where heating or eating was a common decision to be made by my mother. I fell into the wrong crowd aged twelve and became a member of a low level street gang. I was successfully diverted from that life aged sixteen and started my working life shortly after that.
My early working life was in the hospitality industry. I started working in kitchens and went on to become a licensee of a pub aged eighteen after somehow convincing a magistrates court that I was up to the task with a friend of mine.
I went on to enter the security industry initially starting on a holiday park and I absolutely loved it. I loved the thrill of attending everything from lost children through to emergency incidents of public order. I would later get into door security and I had a brief spell in close protection (bodyguarding).
In 2005 I entered the police service where I remained (having taken a year break in the middle). I have had a number of policing roles from working in the custody suites, emergency response, neighbourhood policing and then I became a detective.
I developed my passion for teaching whilst serving in the police service in a role that involved teaching new officers how to operate on the street. My interest in gangs became a key subject that I started teaching on and I have taught law enforcement officers from across the world in gang tactics and exploitation.
As a busy cop I suffered with more than my fair share of violence and injuries that took its toll so I started to look for an alternative career. I was introduced to the utility sector by a former sergeant of mine. I decided to see how I got on with it and I very quickly gained satisfaction from the work having saved three families a considerable sum of money on their bills. I helped one family save £1530 a year!
I believe in the work that I do and I genuinely want to help people. Having come from a disadvantaged background I have a serious appreciation for personal finance and the impact that it can have. I also appreciate the opportunities that education and training can provide a person to advance themselves having been in that position myself.
I would very much love to work with you, your friends and family and wider associates. Please feel free to get in touch with me at any time.
